Landing and taking off – the two most important operations of a flight and considered as tow most critical phases of a flight. Boeing conducted a report in 2017 and according to that between the time period of 2007 to 2016, taking off, landing and other climbs up operations caused 61% of the accidents.
Passengers will be able to exit easily in case of an emergency with the help of secured tray table. While giving an interview to Leisure + Travel, corporate communications manager of JetBlue Morgan Johnston said that before the plane takes any movement, it is a rule to keep the tray table in an upright position.
During the flight, all the electronic devices should be on airplane mode. But after that FAA allowed the use of electronic devices like tablets, iPhones in flight from October 2013. Despite this, the passengers are not allowed to text or call during flight as the signals produced by either a call or a message can interrupt the flight operation.
While giving an interview to the Telegraph, a US pilot and author Patrick Smith said that the electronic devices installed in the flight are designed such that they can’t interfere with the flight operation. Smith further said that until now no case has been witnessed in which a flight is disrupted by the phone signals, but who knows what can happen.
No doubt emergency exit seats are more comfortable as compared to the normal seats but by sitting on those makes you more responsible. If you are on an emergency exit seat, then you will be asked to save others in case of an emergency.
No one can sit there as there is a criterion which one should meet to sit there. Only healthy adults can sit in emergency exit seats and they are also required to read the safety card in order to save others in an emergency condition. People with physical disabilities and those having kids under 15 cannot make it to the emergency exit seats.
The liquid rule is just another difficult for those carrying carry-ons. Passengers are only allowed to carry liquids under two conditions – one is the size of the bottle carrying liquid should not be more than 3.4 ounces and these bottles should properly be fit in the carry bag.
Back in 2006, when the explosive material was found in the soda bottles, there was a complete ban on carrying liquids in flights. After that, the Department of Homeland Security and Transportation Security Administration conducted a research on aerosols, gels, and liquids and then found out that these are nothing to do with the explosives.
Those flights which have shade-free windows give you a pure natural scene and more than these windows keep you safe as well. When window’s shade is taken off, the natural light hits the surroundings of the flight cabin and this way passengers are able to orient their eyes with the natural light and it really helps in case of an emergency when there is no light in the flight. If the shade is open and an emergency occurs, the pilot can devise the plan to evacuate the passengers by watching outside the window.
In case of an emergency, the reclined seat can pose serious problems to the person sitting behind you as he/she cannot evacuate in that position. According to FAA requirements, when an emergency occurs in a flight, everyone should leave the flight within 90 seconds. So when the flight is about to take off or land, keep the seat in an upright position, as most of the incidents take place in these situations.
Before takeoff, the flight attendant announces to stow all of your packing in front of you. There is a reason behind that – a heavy bag in your lap can make it much difficult for you to exit in an emergency case.
