If you grew up in the musical era where talent often came together to make great music then you, just like us, probably miss the richness in culture that came from such collaborations. The musical landscape has since changed, and now artists no longer need to be in a studio to make music as they can produce and record their own music at the comfort of their home, they’re technologies that can be used to change an artist’s voice, and there’s so much available information that one can achieve almost everything by themselves, eliminating the need for collaborating with others.
Even so, we still believe in the power of joining forces to create something great. So we’ve put together a list of top 3 musical girl groups that we would love to see reunite and work together.
Spice Girls
While we have to admit that this wasn’t a group made up of exceptionally talented stars, we love their promotion of the girl power message that’s still very relevant today. The ladies of this group reminded women of their ability to do and achieve whatever they wanted at a time when society held such conservative beliefs about what women should and shouldn’t be. Despite the group members being so different from each other in terms of their personality and backgrounds, this band had the perfect representation where every girl and woman could connect with one of the Spice Girls.
TLC
You know that friend you don’t like much because they tell you the truth you often don’t want to hear, but you still keep around because you know you need them to grow? That’s how it feels to listen to TLC’s music- only you will be bumping your head and dancing while at the same time being challenged to step up your game. From their demand for men to do better in terms of how they show up in the world as sons and lovers to their messages that reminded women not to settle, this was a musical group that created a revolution, and we can’t help but miss them for it.
Destiny’s Child
While the women of this group have gone on to do amazing on their own, you cannot deny the power they had together. The group members’ individual strengths made up for each other’s weaknesses, making the trio an unstoppable force. Fans had each of the women as their favorite for different reasons- some Beyonce for her sass, Kelly for her edginess, and Michelle for her sweet nature—reminding us that there’s not just one way to be beautiful.
While some of these groups’ members have promised to make a comeback together for old time’s sake, none of them has done that so far, but we keep crossing our fingers. At a time when bands are almost extinct, it would be exciting to see women come together for the sake of making good music.
