Facebook is one of the very firsts and one of the most popular social media platforms of today. In fact, they have declared that they have about 2.19 billion active users as of the first quarter of the year.

Then again, despite the fact that they may have the most users, it is getting a lot more different for them to compete with other social media platforms. One of the major reasons is that the other apps tend to have something different, that people never experienced before.

Facebook is working on augmented reality for ads

Facebook is a place where you can simply chat, post status and photos with your friends. However, this could all be done with almost every other app and they also have way more to offer. Just like Snapchat with their live camera effects that has been making everyone want to try it.

What they also introduced was the posts that get deleted right after the message has been posted or seen. This is the reason why Facebook is trying to look for ways for people to find Facebook relevant.

Augmented Reality

Turns out Facebook has got something in store for its beloved users, and that is to be able to try a lipstick on yourself, without having to go to the store and have it applied on you. This is because Facebook announced that they will be having a try-in ad, which basically means having fun while actually not being bored of seeing the same number of people or how long you want it to be.

How it is proposed to work is to basically have the user upload a photo of themselves, and then put on the makeup product that they would like to try as if it is used as a filter.

This means that you don’t need to worry about thinking that a certain shade of lipstick may not look good on you, there is now a way to find out. Makeup isn’t the only thing you can try on as well, because they said that they are currently working on adding accessories as well such as trying on earrings, sunnies, and more. That is all with the help of augmented reality, which basically means that the future is definitely here.

Facebook now has the ability to actually identify as to which ads are exactly suited for you so that no one is wasting anyone’s time. So now with this all-new augmented reality, all these ads, especially the beauty or fashion related ones, will give you a chance to try them on yourself. Facebook just announced this feature and the company is working hard on it at the moment, so they could officially release it this upcoming holiday season.

It’s All About Ads

This all would actually benefit not just the users, the social media platform itself, but also the advertisers. Facebook users may now have the option as to what which ads they will see, and with that, advertisers will then have the opportunity to showcase their products more. This would also give Facebook a chance to get more and more brands that could sponsor them.

Basically, it wouldn’t just let you try them on, but this would also give the people the chance to purchase the item they tried, right then and there. Different items would pop out on the screen and would find your face before letting you scroll and try on whichever item you wish to try. One downside of this all-new Facebook feature is something that would only benefit the advertiser and Facebook itself, and that it because this is a new way for people to go on an impulse buying.

This summer will be their testing season since their goal is to basically have it all ready to go live during the holidays. However, Facebook is actually not the very first one to try and use augmented reality to attract customers. It was, in fact, the designer brand Michael Kors who was given the chance to test it on the News Feeds.

They said that it is an effective way to improve their mobile strategy since people are attracted to something modern, unique, and visually cool that they would want to try it. This gave them a way to deliver a shopping experience that other brands can’t actually provide them.
