Some of the most jaw-dropping moments in movies can happen so quickly that one must simply pause and rewind to get what just happened. Some make us wonder if the director’s deliberately making the scene short because of their inappropriate nature, or just wanted to add a cool detail to mess with our heads.

Scanners (1981)

It was one of the very first films with which David Cronenberg became recognized, and even though it’s not as well-known as other films on this list, it has developed quite the following! Scanners, was released in 1981 and although all its script is mention-worthy we don’t want to spoil it for anyone.

It follows people with psychic powers and their devastating effects. This particular scene, however, involves a person and his head, or better yet, him missing it. Everything happens so quickly, but still, it’s become one of the movie’s best-known scenes and people can’t seem to be getting enough of rewinding it!
