The moment she said I do, Meghan Markle, turned from being a normal citizen who has a career in Hollywood as a television actress to a Duchess of a country by marriage. She has managed to do a couple of things that marks her first time as a part of the royal family. Just a few weeks ago, she went on an international business trip with her husband Prince Harry, to Ireland.
She has also been seen making an appearance with the Queen herself at an event. Another first for the new Duchess was when she attended the christening of Prince Louis, who is her husband’s third nephew. Just a couple of days ago, she managed to cross another first off of the list when she came with the Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who is now her sister-in-law, at the Wimbledon Championships.
Every single time she makes an appearance especially after becoming a Duchess officially, people always tend to take note of what she is wearing. Just like when she actually wore a dress that broke the dress code during the celebration of the Queen’s birthday recently, wherein she actually wore a dress that showed her shoulders. Members of the royal family must either wear formal dresses or their uniforms, for women, dresses must cover the arms if it is a special event, but since the Queen seem to not mind, it must be okay to break the rules sometimes.
Meghan’s Missing Hat
The Duchess of Sussex has been known for wearing such fabulous hats every time she makes a public appearance. However, her hat seems to be missing when she went to the 2018 Wimbledon with Duchess Kate. As usual, as members of the royal family, they get to seat at the royal box.
Meghan was seen holding a very familiar piece of accessories, and that is a white straw hat that has a black band at the top of the brim. This particular hat didn’t get to make an appearance since she didn’t get a chance to wear it. This is because it is not exactly ideal to wear a hat while sitting at that royal box.
According to royal protocol, both men and women must choose to wear smart such as dresses, suits, jacket or tie. When it comes to women, they are highly encouraged not to wear hats since it may actually block the view of the of those who are seated at the back. All of these are actually written in the royal box description of the Wimbledon website. The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex are known for breaking royal protocol, especially during their wedding. But, since then, they have been trying to follow the rules.

Wimbledon Royal Box
What most people don’t know is that every single year at the Wimbledon Championships, there is such thing as the Wimbledon Royal Box. This is where the members of the royal family get to sit while watching one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments in the world, the Wimbledon Olympics. Ever since it started in 1877, it has been held at the All England Club. The Duchess of Cambridge, is actually the patroness of the club, which is why it was important for her to make an appearance.
There are actually 74 seats on the royal box, and all them must be filled by people who have been invited by the Chairman of the All England Club, Philip Brook. He is of course not the only one who is choosing who gets to be invited. He is taking some suggestions from the other members of the committee. The people who get invited are usually leaders of the country, including the Royals. Some tennis stars and legends, and even some celebrities just like David Beckham, Justin Timberlake, Lewis Hamilton, and more.
It is also said that there was one a rule that every player must bow or curtsy to the royal family members who are sitting at the royal box. This must be done at the beginning while they enter the court, and as they leave. Then again, this hasn’t been in practice for years, except of course if it is the Queen or the Prince of Wales since they are the highest in the ranking of the throne.
