Almost everyone loves to shop, buying whatever you desire simply makes everyone happy. Shopping for clothes and accessories is definitely one way to de-stress, but then again, would it still help you take away your stress if you find out that some of your favorite brands are actually unethical.
It can be compared to eating at your favorite restaurants, you would be appalled once you find out that they are actually not paying their employees right and even treating them poorly, they could also be false advertising and be cheating on you by not using ingredients that they said they are using.

Unethical practices when it comes to business is very common, especially in the fashion industry. Over the years people from different groups and organizations have been calling out lots of fashion brands for their unethical practices, but some of them just flip their hairs and ignore the accusations.
According to the Ethical Fashion Forum, the ethical practices can actually be determined if the social, environmental and commercial practices actually get involved with issues that come from the said categories.
Introducing Good On You App
It is not usually very easy to try and figure out which brands are actually ethical and which are the ones that are not. Which is one of the main reasons why this app was developed recently in Europe known as Good on You.
Its goal is to basically make it easy for people to identify if the fashion brands they want to shop on are ethical. It has lots of publicly available data that users can get into with over hundreds of fashion brands and are rating them out of five. Of course, those who get the lower rating means that they would need to work on and address their ethical issues.
This app can be download for free and was just launched last year in the United States, Australia, and Canada but just last month in Europe, so far they have over 2,000 brands and have over a hundred thousand ethical consumers so far from all over the world.
Their data basically figure out what the rating of a brand would be, it would all depend on how they treat their employees, how they treat the planet such as using carbon emissions, disposals, and use of energy, and most of all how they are when it comes to usage of animal fur and skins. All these information will then be verified by Fair Trade and Global Organic Textile Standard since they are the ones issuing certification.
Most and Least Ethical Fashion Brands
Each fashion brand is rated from 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. Each rating are even given names such as “We Avoid”, “Not Good Enough”, “It’s A Start”, “Good”, and “Great”, aside from letting you know their rating, you may also have the option to look at which brand are most ethical in different categories such as dresses, jackets, eyewear, purses, and even pieces of jewelry. They even have filters wherein you can basically set your preferences with.
Some of the most famous fashion brands in the industry are unfortunately on the lowest ratings possible, such as the classic luxury brand Chanel, which received a rating of 1 out of 5 because of the issue regarding the animal welfare with the use of fur and toxic animal testing.
Lacoste is another famous brand that received such a low rating of 2 out of 5 on the Good On You app. This is said to become of their improper environmental practices as well as the animal welfare. It is kind of ironic considering they use an alligator as their main logo.

When it comes to having such a high rating on the Good On You app, the famous shoe brand TOMS is leading. There is actually no doubt about it since they are basically known for their one-for-one giving policy, wherein every pair of shoes you buy, they also give back and support animal initiatives such as Oceana.
They help support whales and all the other sea creatures by trying to save the maritime life. They even launched their own whale collection which is an all-vegan footwear. Some other famous fashion brands that are known to have such high ratings are Stella McCartney and H&M.
