Most of the people panic when they approach their 30’s and rightly so as entering in 30’s means the start of the new chapter in their lives. When the matter is related to the skin it requires serious attention.
When a person is in the late 20’s, he/she notices the change in the body. The stomach requires extra care as some foods do not digest easily, you need to more sleep hours to work properly etc.
With all these changes, your skin is also going through the transition phase. When people cross the 30’s, they feel more dryness in their skin. Problems like irritation and spots start appearing on the skin. Don’t worry, according to dermatologists, it happens to every normal person.
When you cross your 30’s, try to make some adjustments with the skin care and everything will be back to normal. Many dermatologists were asked about the possible skin changes people can suffer after 30’s and their possible solution. When people enter in 20’s, the turn over of their skin cells slows down.
As a child, skin cells turned over every 14 days but when people hit their 30’s, the turn over takes place every 28-35 days. While commenting on this, the MD director of dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Joshua Zeichner said that the difference in the skin cells turn over duration reflects that in 30’s, dead cells start accumulating on the surface of the skin.
The solution to this problem is to manually rid of your skin to allow brighter cells to appear on the screen. Doing so will not only allow the product to absorb deeply but will also make sure that your skin starts to glow. According to Dr. Zeichner, using a gentle scrub will help in improving the skin. Start using it once per week and then move on to twice or thrice per week, the doctor further added.
Another change that people notice entering their 30’s is that the top layer of their skin finds it difficult to stay moisturized and the skin cells remain dry all day long. According to NYC-certified dermatologist Melissa Kanchanapoomi, the elements which produce hydration in the skin like hyaluronic acid starts tumbling and the outer skin cells start drying.
The solution to this dryness according to Dr.Melissa is to add an alpha hydroxic acid in the scrub and use it weekly. But if you are already using a scrub with an exfoliating product, do not add hydroxic acid then, Melissa added. Over-exfoliating the skin will cause more dryness to the skin and it would become even harder to make it moisturized again.
According to Dr. Levin, in 30’s, life starts to show up on people’s face as skin recovery becomes difficult, cell turn over slows down, production of important skin proteins slows down, and hyaluronic acid, which is also known as sugar of skin, starts to decrease. Common changes that people notice touching 30’s include crow’s feet, wrinkles under the eyes, and nasolabial folds. Levin said that one of the major reasons for all this is the change in hormones which causes a significant loss in estrogen.
Dr.Levin said when someone asks about the best anti-aging product, I recommend them sunscreen as sun rays are one of the major factors for premature aging. But other than the use of the sunscreen, Levin advised following a proper skin care routine which includes a proper moisturizer, and a cleanser.
She further said that one major element which is the source of improving skin condition and diminishes spots and wrinkles in Vitamin A. Retinoids is the best Vitamin A ingredient which slows down the turnover, and increases collagen. She further said that if you are new to retinoids, then use a drugstore branded one instead of prescribes one as it is very gentle in nature.
According to Dr.Levin, retinoids is key when it comes to treating discoloration and exfoliating the skin. And in many brown spot studies, many retinoids such as Tazorac and Differin were also found effective.
